Hi all:
Just to give some feedback for those who remember my posts regarding worsening anxiety symptoms and also my questioning posts about tryptophan. AND for anyone wondering whether to try it or not:I have been back on a 1500mg per day dose, along with with .5mg Klonopin for a month and I'm feeling MUCH better. Even though my personal life continues to have major stressors and unpredictability.
I feel more "even", less mood reactive, sleep better, awake a bit more refreshed and am not as dysphoric and irritable in the am.
Originally I had been trying doses of 500mg up 3000mg per day, along with .5mg Klon. Then settled at 1000mg, which worked to some extent for a while.
I then reduced my dosage to 500mg and my Klonopin to .25mg daily. All anxiety symptoms eventually got worse, stress invaded my life again, and I began to get am drowsiness, irritability, slowness. I also got more more mood reactive (easily annoyed, high irritation, OCD and hypomania). Thought I might have Bipolar problems (my "offical" DX is GAD, with depressive cycles), but since reactions are highly linked to outside events, I think it's just plain old GAD.Anyway, I feel that dropping the tryptophan dose down, then suddenly increasing it (along with the same for Klonopin) really seems to have put things back into "balance" brain-chemically speaking. I'm MUCH closer to wellness than a month or so ago. (I might add Tianeptine to this mix, but that's a thread for the Meds board!).
I encourage anyone to try tryptophan as an adjunct, and to be patient about messing around with dosages. Best of all, it has NO SIDE EFFECTS for me (except maybe a little weight gain)!
Best regards,
Jas
