When I was clinically depressed,I took Effexor quite a few years ago when it was still in its infancy. It made me extremely tired and if I didn't take it on time I had a severe reaction that made me almost incapable of thinking clearly or doing anything that required quick movements. As soon as I took it I would be back to normal. I started taking the amino acid, DLPA phenylalanine and tyrosine under medical supervision and it did wonders for me. While effexor did cover the basics for me, such as being able to function normally day to day; the amino acids helped me to thrive. The elevation in my mood was amazing. But you really have to be careful of taking too much and find the right dosage for yourself through medical supervision. Even though I am no longer clinically depressed and I do not need to take Effexor anymore, I have started taking the amino acids again just to lift my spirits. I started with 2 pills of tyrosine (500 mg each)in the a.m. with a glass of juice, followed by 1 DLPA phenylalanine (400 mg)and a B6 pill (50mg) with juice a half an hour later then I take 1 more DLPA midday. This second time around taking them I switched from L-phenylalanine to DLPA phenylalanine and I find it really works a lot better for me. Just remember everybody reacts differently, so medical supervision is a MUST. Just because you can buy something over the counter or its a natural product doesn't mean that its safe. Especially in combination with MAOI inhibitors (anti-depressants). Do a lot of research and find what works for you. I commend anyone that tries to reach out and help themselves.
Sincerely,
Nalani
