I can't tell you from personal experience, as I haven't started l-tryptophan yet.
I am reading a book called The Mood Cure and the author says that some people experience positive effects within hours, while some people it takes a few days. Are you feeling any different? How about side effects. From what your post says, it sounds like you're taking a lot of tryptophan.
I'm sure others will have more and better advice for you.
