? for Larry (if you have time don't mind please)

Posted by jujube on September 28, 2004, at 15:36:06

I have received a few views on my question already, and greatly appreciated the thoughtful responses I received. I am not advice shopping, but I would like to have one more before I completely discard an option that could help me.

I am currently on Celexa (just increased to 30 mg), which I started taking almost 3 weeks ago. It's too hard to tell if it is working, but I remain hopeful. (Previously on Effexor XR which left me numb, unfeeling and apathetic.)

I was thinking of supplementing with Rhodolia. I had asked my doctor about this, and he didn't have a problem with it (then again, he admitted he didn't know what Rhodolia was or did).

The only concern I have about it is that it works to balance MAO. It is not an MAO inhibitor. Nevertheless, I was a little concerned when I read that it had an effect on MAO since I had been told that SSRIs should not be mixed MAO inhibitors. I did, however, see in old threads that one or two people combined Rhodolia with a SSRI.

What do you think? Should I stay away from it?

Anything you can tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Tamara
