Hildi,
No, I don't mind you asking. I have mild depression and anxiety. There have been times when I've been moderately or even severly depressed but mild depression is my "normal" state.
I've tried many antidepressants in the past. I first tried trazodone and really liked the results but I started gaining weight. I switched to Prozac which I thought was even more effective but my sex drive went away and never came back. I took Prozac for several years without knowing it was related to my libido problems. When I quit, I thought my sex drive would return but it seems to be gone for good.
I've briefly tried Effexor, Wellbutrin, and Serzone but had SEs with them and didn't want to continue. Effexor was especially scary.
St. John's wort is good for me but not quite as effective as Prozac was. I also take fish oil and magnesium which I strongly recommend. Here's a link to one of my favorite sites about magnesium and depression: http://www.coldcure.com/html/dep.html

> My depression has been crippling me in many ways. It's time to try a new route but I worried that the st. johns wort would not be enough for my kind of depression.
> I am on a benzo for the anxiety, but I'd love to be off of them. If valerian could handle it I would be releived. The benzos give me strange feelings and some S/E's, too.
> I'm glad you are able to find relief naturally. If you don't mind me asking, do you 'just' have mild depression? And also, were you on prescription AD's before trying the st. johns wort?
