because i don't speak chinese.
because i don't even know what language they speak, in china.
because i know they speak many languages in china.
and because i know i only speak english.and i feel afraid, then.
about china and about any nation, really, and about the... promotion... increasing powers of... any nation... to think that i would be left behind because i do not speak their language... because i can't understand what is going on... because i can't be understood.
and to be fair china has invested heavily in sending it's people about the world... to learn... about the world... on the world's own terms.
and the english speaking world...
did not.
did not reciprocate.
worse: actively took advantage of chinese nationals who were in earnest.
i don't know how you repay that.
how you put that right.
that's where NZ is at. we're f*ck*d. it's our own f*ck*ng fault.
only consolation I have (no consolation at all) is: they f*ck*d me, too
