Interesting that this is how you can explain your approach to Babble. It changes how safe I feel here. Having the space to spin my own wheels personally has made me feel more confident; but I requested it.
When it is imposed upon you without your knowledge, it's not an empowering experience. I understand it now, though, and can appreciate it. An earlier explanation would had made a world of difference, to me, at least.
