Thus, he was protesting against what he saw as bullying behavior, not advocating it.

You were obeying a specific request from someone in this matter. The situation is, therefore, not analogous. I personally would never ask for details about someone's passing on a public internet forum, and if Bob, who is I am sure quite busy took the time to post it, I am confident that he did so with good authority.

Mental illnesses are medical conditions; they not infrequently kill through suicide.

Even if I wondered in my head, I would never ask that question on a public forum. It is up to the family to decide how much information gets passed around, especially to people they do not personally know.
