Partly Cloudy has been a wonderful contributor, as well as a wonderful support to others for many years. I don't want to see her go- not one bit. Something in this complex situation on the board of long absences plus brief appearances on Dr.Bob's part must have raised issues of abandonment and neglect for her, as I suspect it has for many of us. I know it has for me, although I am in a better enough position to, I hope, deal with it so that I don't get hurt.
I don't know if Dr. Bob fully realizes that the majority of posters - those posting long-term who have allowed Babble to become important to them- are going to be strongly affected by major changes in his behavior. In this situation, it is his change from being over-involved, with too much emphasis on minor details, to being very under-involved in all aspects of the forum. It obviously (from the very reactive posts) causes the community more distress to have him appear only to address a technical malfunction while declining to be a source of emotional support, or perhaps it would be more realistic and fair to say. an important emotional presence, as he once was. I have been steadily getting the impression that he is not nearly as aware of the emotional effects of his behavior on the community he created as he is of the technical aspects of this site, at which he is clearly masterful. I would love to have him prove me wrong.
PC, I don't mean any disrespect by addressing you in the third person. It was just easier for me to articulate my thoughts. I hope you stay, and help us try to get this situation straightened out. If we can't, despite our best efforts, then I'm with you on the leaving.
