Maybe try a cat? I haven't had a house cat for about five years. I just got one two months ago. He is a Ragdoll (it's a breed of cat). Ragdoll cats have peculiar characteristics that are very unlike typical cats. He's five months old now, and he's pretty big.. but he is the floppiest big ole baby you've ever seen. His fur is soft as butter. All he wants to do is lay all over you. I can pick him up and turn him on his back in my arms like I'm holding a baby, and he'll put his paw on my chin and lick my nose. He'll lay like that forever. My son will pick him up and drape him over his shoulders, wearing him like a scarf. And he's beautiful. Ragdolls all have bright blue eyes. They are extremely trusting, and lack self-protective instincts. For that reason, they can only be inside cats. I'm so glad I got him. It's so much fun to watch TV with him laying all floppy in my arms. If you look them up, my kitten's color is called Seal Lynx.

Anyway, I think this type of cat would really suit you, because they love their human and will take all the holding and loving you can give them.
