Yes, let me join in this sentiment. I'm bothered by the constant pro-forma postings regarding the dangers of all psych drugs, regardless of the context, or the type of drug. Such blanket statements & links to such blanket statements don't do me much good or provide support for me in my attempts to deal with my issues. I suspect it is the same for others. So, despite the fact that I agree Lou means well, I don't get any sense of support from these posts. It would probably be different if Lou addressed people individually, but he basically puts up billboards instead of starting conversations. I'd feel a lot better having a conversation instead of being directed via cut & paste techniques to various anti-medication anecdotes & propaganda sites that engage in the sort of broad generalizations that are discouraged on this site. I'd be happy to have the anti-medication point of view expressed in dialog. I know there are dangers associated with psych meds & I think they ought to be discussed, though there are dangers with just about anything.
Some stuff I'd ask Lou if I were able to have a conversation with him:
-- Do you drink coffee?
-- Do you take vitamins?
-- Do you expose your skin to sunlight?
-- Do you drink tap water?
-- Do you take prescribed medication for, say, hypertension or some other chronic health problem?
-- And more questions like those if I got a straight answer. And I'd be happy to talk about my own experience & answer similar questions.I just noticed in rereading this post that I talk about Lou in the third person rather than to Lou in the first person -- this is rude & I'm sorry for it, but it is indicative of the fact that I have never had a back & forth with Lou on Psychobabble. He just arrives like the weather.
