To me as well. I always feel at such a disadvantage. Remember that old saying? Someone would come up to someone who didn't know them from Adam and address them by name, and the person addressed would say "I'm sorry, you have me at a disadvantage." There was a certain amount of truth to that.
Dinah is Dinah is Dinah. So I always feel at a disadvantage to anyone who might have once known me. But that's just *my* feeling, and totally my responsibility.
Sadly I've had to learn to have a bit of distance over the matter in order to manage my feelings of uncertainty. I figure that anyone who cares if I know them will tell me. And if they don't, then it's just as well that I don't worry about it overmuch. Lopsided relationships are so uncomfortable to me. But of course those are my feelings, not a reflection on anyone else.
Just musing on the topic, I think. You seem to have gained a fair perspective yourself. :)
