I don't think he has any ill intent. I think he doesn't see this the way many posters do. I think he didn't understand the long opt out list. I think he sees this as not being that unlike google. I think he sees this only as a way to bring in new posters and keep babble active, and perhaps to do what he originally did with Babble and the internet. To stretch into new areas to reach people.
I think he doesn't understand the objections posters has, or that maybe he doesn't think they're valid. I think that possibly he feels frustrated at being impeded in doing what he thinks is best for Babble.
I don't think he thinks he's being reckless.
Of course, what I think and what Dr. Bob is thinking are two different things, so he's in a better position to respond than I am. Nor do I have any more insight into his thoughts than anyone else on Babble. He doesn't share them with us very much, so we're left to infer them based on his actions. And I suppose we all infer based on our own set of expectations. So nothing I say has any real validity into anything but my own thought processes.
I don't think Dr. Bob is a *bad* person. But I just don't trust that, if he doesn't understand, he won't do it again. And because I don't trust that, I'm feeling afraid to post, or to add more material to the vast amount I've already put on this site, thus making me even more vulnerable. Every time I start to post I freeze and delete, on anything but Admin topics.
What do you think? (Assuming of course it's civil. Otherwise it might be best said off board.)
Nice to see you again, Toph. I've missed seeing your name round these parts.
