I don't place him on a pedestal, but neither do I try to bury him under a mountain of incivility. Sometimes, it seems to me that there are episodes of a mob mentality targeting the doctor. He might not deserve praise for all of his actions, but neither do I for mine. Still, I would not demonstrate the patience that the doctor has if I had to be continually addressed with disrespectful tones.

I am not so interested in affixing labels to people, though. Uncivil posts can be made by very civil people. People are NOT their behaviors. However, their behaviors do have consequences.

> For me to respond, I would need to know what you are wanting to mean by disrespectfull tones.
> You see, to {respect} could mean to give a special high esteem to someone, and to disrespect is to {lack} respect. This could mean to me many things until you narrrowed your meaning to be {devaluation}.
> Now that you have given me what you are wanting to mean by disrespectful, then I look at that in relation to your phrase,{disrespectful tone}
> Now a tone could be a style of writing and that could then cause me to have a want for infomation as to how one could determine as to if a statement is in a style or not of being disrespectful or not according to what you are wanting to mean here.
> If I was to be able to make that determination then I could examine posts to see if they do or do not fit that rationale to be considered disrespectful.
> Now you have given me a reply that you are wanting to mean {devaluation}. A generally accepted meaning of devaluation is that something is made to be less. This now opens up a whole new perspective to me now that I have received your reply to as what you are wanting to mean by that and now I can focus on what you are wanting to mean rather than to speculate in any way.

Scott,
You wrote,[...I could make a list of posts...However, I believe that doing such is uncivil...]
I think that posting the list could have that potential here, but I believe that making the list, in and of itself, is not uncivil here unless it is posted.
I have lists of posts that I send to those requestiing such. I have been told that posting links here to some type of posts from here could be uncivil and I am unsure as to what URLs could or could not be posted here. Untill I am sure, I send them by email. There are also other data bases of different web sites that contain URLs of posts from here that may or may not be allowed to be posted here. I am not asking you to post URLs from here. I was looking for another way, if you had made or could make a list of posts of that nature in question here, to obtain those posts. If I was to know each of those posts , then I could have a better understanding of what you are wanting to mean here and respond accordingly..
Lou
