Testosterone isnt FDA approved for male depression, but there are medline studies of its usage to treat hypogonadal depressed men. And all of the TRT websites mention depression, fatigue, irritability as symptoms of low testosterone.

Taken directly off the Testim website:

http://www.testim.com/low_testosterone_symptoms.asp

"Men with low testosterone may experience symptoms such as fatigue or low energy, a decrease in sex drive and sexual function, and increased irritability or depression. 1"

Off the Androgel website:

http://www.androgel.com/about_symptoms.html

"Signs and symptoms of Low T may include:

* Fatigue or loss of energy
* Low sex drive (reduced desire to be intimate)
* Sexual dysfunction (weak erections, failure to get erections)
* Depressed mood
* Decreased sense of well-being
* Increased body fat
* Loss of muscle mass
* Decreased bone strength"

Note the company that makes Androgel specifically claims "fatigue or loss of energy" and "depressed mood" is a symptom of low testosterone.

I had a hematologist tell me specifically one time a few years back "low testosterone is why you have low energy," despite being on Zoloft at the time.

These transdermal and buccal testosterone medications were developed specifically for TRT..and not for "anabolic steroid" abuse and athletic performance enhancement.

Athletes almost always opt for the hardcore injectable testosterone. TRT guys normally opt for hardcore injectable testosterone only when transdermal TRT fails to boost testosterone levels.

While not FDA approved for male depression, testosterone is already mainstream in Internal medicine, urology and endocrinology.
