Greywolf wonders about accusation by implication

With all due respect to differing points of view, I think a former president might get a kick out of this hairsplitting.

I very much understand the need for sensitivity in almost all circumstances, not just on this website. But I do scratch my head when the focus is less on what I think was an undeniably questionable post in Babble, and more on the use of very mild language by Linkadge in pointing that out.

Linkadge can obviously speak for himself, but I think characterizing a post as "inappropriate" and even amending the characterization to "seems inappropriate" is very far from "accusing," in any sense of that term that is commonly understood.

The social convention that's being enforced is odd, because it seems obvious that Linkadge could feel accused by someone telling him that it was inappropriate for him to use the word "inappropriate."

While progressive in concept, the convention seems regressive in enforcement. Perhaps it would be better to presume a constructive, non-accusatory effect unless common sense immediately suggests the post would lead someone to feel accused.
