Dr. Bob, I think it would be a good idea to send an automatic e-mail to people who are blocked. This e-mail can be sent to them right after they are blocked.
In this e-mail, there can be poster's suggestions on how to cope while being blocked. This shows care for the individual as well as the group.
There can be messages like,
"Don't feel bad, we don't think you're a bad person."
"You will be OK. You will make it out OK."
"Don't take the block personally, we don't hate you."
"Here is a link to the Good Samaritans, just in case you need to talk."
"Just because you broke the rules doesn't mean we don't like you anymore."
"Have some fun IRL, life is not all about Babble."
"Use this time to take a break from the boards and spend some time with friends."
"We still care about you and we don't want anything bad to happen to you."
"If you're feeling suicidal, please go to the ER or call a distress line, we care about you."
etc.
I know I sure could have used these...
