Dr. Hsiung,
Do you consider your not attempting to find them a sound mental-health practice? I have requested that you check your backup for the missing posts and I know of no other way to find them without paying an expert and you agree that they could possibly be found by you checking your back up.
Also, do you consider it supportive by you not attempting? And is not the goal of the forum to be for support? Have you not written that you give a higher priority to support than freedom of speech? Also, is it civil for the sysop that has the means to accommodate a members request to write,[...I'm not attempting to do so, sorry...] without even stateing that you would later?
You wrote to me to rephrase a statement because I used the word,"violate". If your post to me was not missing, I could have the opportunity to ask you what the difference could be that others used that word without you writng to them to rephrase the statement without the word.
Are there two different standards here? If those threads that are missing were brought back, then I could have the opportunity to defend my use of the word as being as to the accepted standard of the past practice here.
You write that there is a "remote" chance that something in the software could have caused two threads with dialog between us to vanish from the record. But does that then mean that there is a greater chance that the threads were deliberatly deleted by someone other than you since you write that you did not delete them? And if so, who could have access to the server to do so? And if so, why ?
Then why not bring those threads back if they can be, and have it out in the open?
I have had emails that write that it is remembered that these threads did exist but can not be found and I would like to set the record straight. Did you not write, "for the record" in one of our other dialogs? You wanted it in the record and so do I.
Lou Pilder
