Jai,

I've seen storms come and go since I first discovered Babble in 2000 and started posting in 2001. I only recently came back after a hiatus.

I'm still trying to figure out cyber-communication. I tend to avoid even trying to have a "relationship" this way. There's so much room for mis-communication. Every wrong word, every step, every misstep is so exaggerated.

Sometimes I don't even know I'm in an "argument". For me, it's more about sharing views, sharing perspective. It's like going through an art museum and sharing what you see.

There's no right or wrong, no debate. When someone tells us Paul Klee's "Sinbad the Sailor" looks like a bowl of fruit, we wouldn't say, "I disagree".

It would be so nice if people just appreciated each others' perspectives. Instead, of "I disagree", it could be, "wow, I hadn't looked at it that way".

I'm learning to be more careful about the metaphors and analogies I use. I went off on a tangent about "The Caine Mutiny" that caused one poster to feel like they were in a "gladitorial arena". I'm sorry it gets that way.

There really isn't much to disagree about in the end. We are all looking at different parts of the same elephant.
