Doc Bob,
A large majority of boards on the net have the message editing ability built in. It appears to be 'standard practise', and gives individuals control over their words and posts. If needed, I believe you would be able to access a log with original posts. What is the harm in this? If somebody writes something and it comes out as uncivil, and changes their mind about the post, then the goal is accomplished (the person saw the err of their ways.) Second, it is standard copyright law that anything anyone publishes on the web, regardless of individual 'agreements', is owned *by that person*. Hence, they do have the final say over if anyone can change, copy, or edit their words. I'll gladly do the research to further confirm this information, but laws of countries supercede 'agreements'. (In other words, those agreements must conform to the particular code of law, otherwise they are illegitimate.) In other words, our posts are copyrighted *even* if we 'agreed' to conditions you have us acknowledge.
