Dr Bob, et al;
Here's one way to do it, but there might be an easier way.
Manually typing the posters names is easy enough (so long as I'm careful to spell the names corectly and capitaleyes aPpRoPrIaTeLy -- people typical do not like to see their name misspelled). The part I couldn't figure out was how to get the ">>" to appear in the confirmed post.
The symbol ">" is one of a handful of symbols that do not display in the subject line after the post is submitted. No need to take my word for it; try it for yourself. Type ">>" in the subject line (noticing that the symbols show up just fine), then click the "Submit your post button and, presto, the >> is gone. Further, even if the >> did not disappear, the font is different from the previous poster symbol, and therefore, at best it would look like a poor counterfeit.
But here is what I learned (by accident) after going through the process of typing the first post in this thread. If one pulls up a post that contains the previous poster symbol in its subject line, the symbol can be blocked, copied, and pasted (repeatedly, if so desired) into the subject line of a new post. And when the post is submitted, the symbol does not disappear.
Remember to watch the spelling and capitalization of those names, however.
