I think you have hit upon a great idea here! lol. This could be an elegant way to be sure that nobody mistakes something meant as a joke to be a serious comment. Verrry good!
I'd like to start using it myself, if I can plagiarize it from you. I have the type of sense of humor that, even in person, people don't get because it is too dry (Sahara) and I'm so deadpan. I may have to fashion a small "joke alert" sign that I can hold up when I am in person with somebody; or a tattoo on the palm of my hand.
