Fi, they won't show on the main page until you refresh it - that's normal. You can always click the refresh button to seee the new messages, but then the little yellow icons on the previous "new" messages that you haven't yet read won't be yellow & easy to find.
Only the newest messages that have been posted between the time you opened the main page & the time you hit the refresh button will be highlighted in yellow "new".
