From having participated in this BBS for the past several years, I feel the posts have a pretty even mix between general meds discussion and specific DSM-IV disorder discussion. Personally, I perceive a greater benefit in meds discussion related to a specific DSM-IV disorder. However, I don't pretend to speak for others. By analogy, I could perform a Medline search or everying regarding Bupropion, and then disregard much of the search results as not being either applicable to me nor useful with regard to my disorder. Or, as is more frequently the case, I could screen for Bupropion and social phobia.
I am a fan of continuous improvement, and I apply this in what I do at work. I typically think what works might be able to still work better. However, this BBS might be an exception, as I have just recently discovered the search engine, which provides the opportunity to effectively "categorize" in a very custom way. Either it's new, or I just have never seen it, as you must scroll beyond the last post, to the bottom of the page, for it to be visible.
So, the current arrangement provides a smorgasboard of posts to those who benefit from such variety, while the search engine allows others to be more selective in what they review, particularly in the archives.
Looks like we can all have our cake and eat it, too.
