This is the only board I use (not the chatty sort); I'm generally a little internet-naive. By 'public' I was referring to the huge volume of traffic here (1 million hits a month!), and the fact that psychobabble is placed so highly on certain search engines. We're talking accessibility here; the messages are the first thing to hit you whereas message boards on some other sites are discretely tucked away.

This is probably nearer the answer; Psychobabble was set up primarily as an information exchange & is probably still seen as such.

Same. The altruist in me wld like to respond (on Socialbabble) but I have enough depression of my own & could do w/o sharing in others difficulties. Med talk is different; it (at least here) greatly increases my chances of recovery, the end game after all.
