Your board, Your responsibility!!! What I think doesn't make much difference does it? But for what it's worth:

You might start with this from the site Shar posted
http://www.metanoia.org/suicide/whattodo.htm
>
You might think about how to deal with posts joking about suicide. For example pullmarine posted a Christmas parody including a loaded gun as a gift. I didn't say anything because of the hostile atmosphere surrounding "humour" on the board but as the page I posted the link to says, joking about suicide is a sign of being suicidal.
B Day also posted a "joke" to Hannah regaurding using a rope for a noose. Nothing was said in either instance.

You might want to re-think your policy on how long to allow attacks against "victims" to be posted. I am thinking of Mark H's first cruel posts to Hannah for which you warned him. I think taking this so lightly is very likely to make people hesitant to reveal any vulnerabilities directly for fear of attack by the Blame the Victim faction. I think you might want to consider removing truly vicious posts such as Mark H's rather than leaving them. I did a search for "suicide" on Psychobabble and came up with yet another of his attacks on "Whining victims " in a response to someone who had posted about an overdose.

I think you might consider a positive intervention occasionally instead of only negative. For instance you might have remarked on Hannah's remarkable refusal to be drawn into Mark's provocative posts.

I think Hannah's posts to the Lumptonian thread were an attempt to join in the "fun". She was imitating the style of the posters. But if they (the posters) are truly offended, why not remove them too? If people are hurt, why keep the posts that hurt them on public display as permanent reminders of the pain it caused them?

So those are my ideas, what are yours?

In conclusion, I offer you support and encouragement and I wouldn't have your job for anything in the world! Good Luck
