Getting someone else to read it over, who isn't involved, is a really good idea..
But remember that few people will just ignore it and label you "nuts" because of it.. If its worded well, and not "whiney".. try to stress that yo are not complaining for your own benefit, but because you want to prevent this happening to anyone else is always a good tactic to stop people thinking you're after some money.
Good luck - you have REAL grounds for a complaint.
