Nikki, can you help me with this before I throw a brick through my monitor? We can do it through email if you'd like -- you can email me at babbler39 at excite dot com if you're willing to answer a couple of questions about how to implement this monstrosity?

Part of the problem, by the way, is that I've got a couple of books -- all for a different version of Access, and all focussed on different things: one is a basic "teach yourself to use the program by following examples" book that I picked up to see if there was a point to trying an Access class at the Center. It's great for the "how to use the program" for end users sorts of things, for that version of the program. It's also got a lot of good stuff that might have been helpful for a basic class, but not for anything about how to set up something outside the sorts of questions the book figured would be asked in a small business.

The other is O'Reilly -- the one by Steve Roman? It's great -- if you can distill what he means from what he says. (And yes -- I do find myself annoyed with myself, since that's a Racer characteristic, too...) I think what I need is actually in there -- but cutting through the chaff to find the grain is just impossible for me right now. Not enough brain to hold the meaning through the explanation, you know?

The other problem is that neither of them addresses my primary interest at this stage: data entry forms. I'm just trying to create a data entry form that will update the tables involved so that I can enter everything in one place, and the only way I've found so far is to use a form with a dozen subforms on it. That's such a pain in the you-know-where -- I just want to hit "TAB" over and over, not have to think about when it's "TAB" and when it's "ctrl-TAB", you know? The reports, I think, won't be so hard for me. The form, though, is.

If you think you can spare a few minutes to answer a couple of questions or make a few suggestions, please let me know.

(Oh, and I'm going to do something that might help in the meantime: install HELP... My husband keeps insisting that everything I could possibly need is online, so use the development site at Microsoft. Um... Maybe that's working for him, with Visual C++. but it hasn't helped me so far, and maybe what I'm looking for is right there in the Help files?

Anyway, thanks -- if nothing else, I figure if you can do it, it's not impossible, right? That might mean you give me hope. :^D
