1st Manic Episode in over a Decade

Posted by afatchic on June 21, 2004, at 3:22:03

Hello Friends,

I had to write to you all because I knew you would understand. This is such a supportive environment we've created for ourselves.

I have been depressed nearly all my life. In my teens and early twenties I had some manic episodes, but they stopped long ago.

I'm coming down from one that started Thursday night. Final exams ended that day and the sun had finally come out in full force. I live in the Seattle area and everything they say about the weather and its depressive effects are true.

I had lunch with friends from school. We were celebrating the end of the school year and we went to an outdoor cafe by the water. I think the hours I spent in full sun light triggered the manic episode. I've been spending too much money, only sleeping a few hours a night, and cleaning house with a vengence.

This mania is a bit disconcerting but I'm enjoying the occasional euphoric sensations. Knowing that it's a simple adjustment to a change in seasons makes it more bearable.

Any body else get too happy from sunshine?
