Yes, years ago, when I had a cat, it was traumatic for him when I vacuumed my little studio apartment. There wasn't anywhere safe for him to go to get away from the vacuum beast. He would perch as far away as he could (usually the window sill) and hiss and spit at the machine until I was done. It was a lousy vacuum anyway, but a hand-me-down, like just about everything else in that apartment (including the cat!!).
