Hi

Posted by AnnFrank on April 19, 2007, at 23:46:46

I feel threatened by people who want to make a living manipulating my feelings to conform with what they consider "mental health" but which in fact is "social compliance" with a society that is killing not a few people but an entire planet.

Well then, let's have a chat.

We might have something in common.

I find psychiatry and psychology these days entirely uninspiring.

You're right about the rest too.

Since I feel threatened, I only intend to chat enough to clarify that I did not specify whether aforementioned people exist in the real world or are figments of my imagination. I say this for fear that my honest expression of fears I feel (and quite possibly think) are rational, relavent and timely will be called uncivil. Under restrictive conditions for dialogue established here, I cannot attribute my feelings to any factual or rational basis, which might or might not exist. This feels like a very unsafe place because I cannot warn people about danger even when I see them in mortal peril.

You mean Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath"?
It's so long since I read it (40 years).
And where does 'treading out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored' come from?
(Though that doesn't sound like yours at all.)
I wondered whether it was something like an old Woody Guthrie song.

Isn't "treading out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored" from "The Battle Hymn of the Republic"?

The grapes of wrath are mentioned I think in the book of Ezekiel. And then in the battle hymn of the republic and then steinbeck and then this song. Tom Joad was a character in the novel.

The highway is alive tonight (Australian Tour
edition 1995).

Man walkin' 'long the railroad tracks
Goin' someplace there's no goin' back
Highway patrol choppers comin' up over the ridge.

Hot soup on a campfire under the bridge
Shelter line stretchin' 'round the corner
Welcome to the new world order
Families sleepin' in their cars in the Southwest
No home no job no peace no rest.

The highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Searchin' for the ghost of Tom Joad.

He pulls a prayerbook out of his sleeping bag
Preacher lights up a butt and takes a drag
Waitin' for when the last shall be first and the first shall be last

In a cardboard box neath the underpass
Got a one-way ticket to the promised land
You got a hole in your belly and a gun in your hand
Sleeping on a pillow of solid rock
Bathin' in the city aqueduct

The highway is alive tonight
Where it's headed everybody knows
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Waitin' for the ghost of Tom Joad.

Now Tom said: " Mom, wherever there's a cop beatin' a guy
Wherever a hungry newborn baby cries
Where there's a fight 'gainst the blood and hatred in the air
Look for me Mom I'll be there

Wherever there's somebody fightin' for a place to stand
Or decent job or a helpin' hand
Wherever there's somebody struggling' to be free
Look in their eyes Mom you'll see me

Well the highway is alive tonight
But nobody's kiddin' nobody about where it goes
I'm sittin' down here in the campfire light
Waitin' for the ghost of Tom Joad.

Hi

Am I in Mortal Peril?

I apologize for my selfishness in asking.

Welcome to Babble.

The mortality will hopefully catch up with me before the peril.

(Don't get me started on the species.)

i just saw or heard somewhere they were getting together.

then again, i'm crazy and hear voices often.

thought somewhere in cali, but i often dream of that place.

perhaps you should check into it? or i should check into those voices. i'd rather not, i despise antipsychotics....
