Had a strawberry daiquiri

Posted by Deneb on June 29, 2006, at 20:06:42

I just had a strawberry daiquiri for the first time. I bought 4 bottles in anticipation of Canada day.

I drank it really fast. I wanted to feel the effects of the booze. I feel...a little bit sick. The drink was too sweet. I didn't like it but it was okay. I don't think I want to get drunk anymore. I was planning on getting drunk on Canada day so I can do and say stupid things. If one drink makes me feel sick, I don't think I can handle being drunk. Now I'm kind of afraid of getting a seizure. How much booze can I drink while being on Wellbutrin, Risperdal and Celexa before I seriously mess up my brain?

Be careful, dear. First of all, the corn syrup and sugar would make an elephant sick. Second, the acids in the strawberries cause heartburn. They do to me anyway. Third, the mix on the bottle is all wrong. It is from the daquiri mix company,...they want you to use more of their stuff so you have to buy more. Use about 3/4 of their mix and the rest water (or vodka!) Enjoy in moderation.

PS. My secret pet name for you is "Deb" because of someone very special I know that you make me think of. Why? I'm not sure, but it's a specia feeling.

I didn't have to mix the daiquiri myself. I bought it in bottles. The kind I bought had Barcardi rum in it, 5% alcohol.

I want to try some other drinks. I saw this liquor that was chocolate flavoured. I wanna try that some day. I saw this bottle called Sour Puss, apple flavoured, that was green. It was so pretty. :-) I wanted to buy it just because it was green.

Maybe I should go buy some more booze, something not as sweet. Any recommendations? I want to get a little drunk without having to drink a million calories.

I'm going to a BBQ on Canada day. It's BYOB and bring your own meat.

It's called a Bulldog. Not high alcohol content (if you stop the bottle just right.)

Ingredients:
1/2 Bull
1/2 Dog

Just kidding-

Ingredients:
Kahlua
Coca-Cola
Cream (pref. whipping cream, but half and half works)

Pour Kahlua over ice
Add 1 can Coca-Cola
then pour cream
**important to mix this way or you will fizz cream all over the place!
mix gently

What do you call the Kahlua-Cola drink? It sounds pretty good. I've tried Kahlua before with milk.

What are the proportions?

Did you put it in a blender with ice, or drink it straight up? You need that ice to water it down. Daiquiris are meant to be sipped slowly, but they're usually too sweet for me anyway.

My brother did the same thing, he wanted to know what it felt like to be drunk, so he drank some alcohol real fast, and ended up throwing up.

I can understand wanting to know what it feels like to be drunk. But its really just an unpleasant side effect of trying to use alcohol to escape and numb your feelings. People who aren't alcoholics usually just have a couple of drinks to relax, and then they stop.

Drinking alcohol fast is just a sure fire way to throw up. I'm not going to encourage you to get drunk, but if you're set on doing it drink something slowly until you feel a little spacey, then STOP. That's really all it is, feeling dizzy and not able to think straight, and it will stick with you awhile (which is why you stop when you first feel the effects).

Be EXTRA, EXTRA careful drinking on your meds. I don't know about seizures, but I do know meds can intensify the effects of alcohol, which is another reason to take it slow.

I really don't know enough to say whether or not its dangerous with your meds, you should really check with your doc to see if you should be drinking at all. Some meds are tough on your liver, and alcohol will increase that. You know, like you're not supposed to take Tylenol while drinking? Check with your doc, he may tell you its okay to have one or two. But really, don't aim to get drunk, you'll probably just end up throwing up. And believe me, throwing up from drinking too much is the worst feeling ever.

Hi Curtm, Hi TexasChic

I bought some Kahlua and made myself a Bulldog. The first one I made I used Cola and cream. The fat from the cream precipitated out of the solution. I drank that pretty fast. Then I made another one using milk. I liked the one with milk better. I drank that pretty fast too. I had about 2 cm of Kahlua altogether.

Then I had a burger. Then I got sick. Ugh. I ended up puking.

I'm starting to think my meds and alcohol really don't mix.

I think maybe I'll forgo the booze on Canada Day. Now, what the heck do I do with all the booze I bought?

hi Deneb
you might be able to give the booze to your friends IRL, otherwise just keep it until the next time company comes over. Kahlua will keep indefinitely. I had a bottle for over a year. I kept it in the fridge, but if you keep it in a cool dark place it will be fine.

Sorry you barfed. ugh. Alcohol is not for everyone. I'm glad you found out before you got too hurt, though. Maybe you can get in the mood to celebrate Canada Day with ice cream, or a coke float instead?

-ll

p.s. I know curtm likes bulldog, how was the flavor to you? tasty? or just a vehicle to get drunk? I am wondering whether I should go buy kahlua. too bad we're not neighbors, I'd just buy the rest of your bottle, lol.

Good idea, I can give the booze to my friends! I have some friends who drink.

I'll bring the strawberry daiquiris for my friends to drink. I think I'll just have a diet coke or something. I'll keep the Kahula. Maybe my Mom will like it. She likes Bailey's Irish Cream.

Ice cream sounds really good! :-)

I have a thing with ice cream right now. I'm determined to try every flavour of Ben and Jerry's. There's a Ben and Jerry's ice cream place in the mall where my Mom works.

The Bulldog tasted pretty good. I liked it with the milk more than with the cream. The fat in the cream precipitated out somehow. It was slightly creamy and reminded me of an ice cream float, with the foam.

You wouldn't need to buy the Kahlua from me. You can drop by anytime and we could have a drink together (non alcoholic for me ;-) ).

Yeah, I can have 1 drink right now. Any more makes me a zombie the next day. I think I'd prefer to go out for ice cream. My favorite ben&jerry's is Cherry Garcia. The only other flavors I've had are chunky monky and phish phood, which were both too rich for me.

Too bad I'm not driving much these days. I could set out for Canadia on my bicycle, but I don't know how I'd find my way. I'd probably crash into the St. Lawrence waterway or get eaten by a polar bear or something ;o)

that was a llrrrpp response. stay tuned for a Dr. Bob-style response.

There are polar bears everywhere! They venture onto land this time of year because the ice melts. Summer is the hardest time for them. Not much to eat. I saw a polar bear just last week, eating wild raspberries. ;-)

Oh yeah, we also live in igloos and travel by dog sled in the winter. Everyone ends their sentences with, "Eh". LOL

Travelling by dog sled would save people and the city millions of dollars, not to mention prevent back sprains from snow shovelling. ;-) No more paying for gas and no more snow shovelling!

-----

I drank some more Bulldog. This time I didn't put as much Kahlua in and I didn't drink it on an empty stomach. I'm okay. :-)

It's pretty good, I must say. I created my own version of a Bulldog. I used 1 part Kahlua, 5 parts diet Coke and 5 parts 2% milk. I find the cream too rich. To reduce calories I substituted diet coke. I'm going to bring the ingredients to tomorrow's get together.

Oooooh, never ever ever drink on an empty stomach!!! And go slow and enjoy it, don't chug. Drinks like that are supposed to be enjoyed. And when you drink be sure and be safe about driving. Drunk people are notoriously bad at judging how drunk they are.

Have fun tomorrow! I wish I could go with you. You seem to do such fun stuff.

My friends were having a great time, laughing and making lots of jokes. I didn't talk. :-( I drank two bulldogs and one strawberry daiquiri and I still wasn't social. I don't think I bought enough booze with me.

I don't know how much I have to drink before I'm social and not afraid to say stupid things. Saying stupid things is fun. My friends do it all the time. We're a silly bunch (except for me, unfortunately). I want to blurt out whatever is on my mind, however silly. How much would I have to drink to overcome my inhibitions?

Alcohol doesn't have that effect on everyone. It doesn't work that way for me. I go from feeling nothing to being ready to fall asleep. I'm sure that my meds are part of this problem, but I also think that it is my biology.

Have you heard that Asians tend to have less of the enzyme that metabolizes alcohol? Perhaps this is also the reason that you can't get a buzz before puking.

I personally decided that alcohol was no fun with meds. I use a lot of caffine instead. That makes me nutty. :)

Best,
EE

I don't think you could drink enough if this is what you constantly worry about while you are drinking. Even so, you shouldn't attempt to "use" alcohol as a tool to achieve such goals. Worry not. If you enjoy the company and conversation, then be happy...

and be careful (((((deneb)))))
