Should I get another hamster?

Posted by Deneb on December 29, 2005, at 17:08:55

It's lonely without a hamster in the house. I'm thinking of getting another one, but I'm afraid it will die.

I hate to admit it, but I didn't have Sophie long enough to get attached to her as much as I got attached to Hammie. I wasn't as upset when she died, but I miss her deeply.

I have two dead hamsters in the backyard now. :-(

I really don't want a third.

Life is so fragile. One minute she was super active, the next she was dead. It is so strange when they are dead. I find I don't recognize them anymore when they are dead.

why don't you get a pet that has a longer life expectency? Maybe a dog, cat, rabbit...something else?

I want a pet with a longer lifespan, but I'm not sure my Mom will let me have it in the house. It was really hard convincing my Mom to let me have a hamster. I think she tolerates it because it is confined to one small area, it's cage.

I want a doggie and a bunny and a guinea pig. I want to be surrounded by furries. :-)

When I get my own place, I want to get a dog or a cat.

I had a guinea pig who I loved very much. She was so soft and let me cuddle with her. She was funny, too. She did a little jump thing called "popcorning" when she was happy. And she used to call out to me (Whee-Whee-Whee) whenever I rustled the produce bag that her lettuce was stored in. I found her very sociable.

I used to let her run around on the floor sometimes, and she played with my dogs!

That sounds so sweet! I love guinea pigs. I want one. I actually thought of getting a guinea pig before my hamster, but my Mom freaked out a little when she saw how big I wanted it's cage to be. I want the little guy to have room to romp about.

I've read about that popcorning thing. I've yet to see it myself. The ones at the pet store are really timid. I really want to see them jump and make little noises!

I want a guinea pig! I want one, I want one!

I think you should get another one. You loved Hammy and he brought you lots of pleasure and joy. It's painful to experience the death of a pet, but I think it's worth it because enjoying their life is so nice.

I'm thinking of maybe getting a dwarf hamster this time. Maybe a dwarf Campbell.
