I think my house is haunted.............

Posted by woolav on September 20, 2005, at 7:33:37

I know it may seem silly. but i have lived in this house since july. First off, there are alot of electrical issues, where light swithes will work and then not work and then work..
but recently some strange things have been happening..
like a jug of iced tea from my fridge ended up in my cabnit where i keep my cups, but it was on the top shelf that i cannot reach without a stool.
Also, I found my sour cream and cottage cheese in my pantry where i would never have put since i know it has to be in the fridge!
Then, i came home and my shower was on. only the hot was on and the shower head, which is the kind that you can remove and use for shaving etc. was just hanging there and its always put back on the holder.
nothing scary has happened, but it seems like these things are very strange. I dont want to tell my daughter bc she will prob. freak out. but i know she isnt doing these things. and unless suddenly i have lost my mind (worse than it already is..lol)
has anyone else had things like this happen????
S

Well, yes, sounds like some interesting activity.

I don't personally believe in "ghosts" but I don't doubt that people do indeed hear/see the things they say they do.

I know my aunt lived in a house (when I was a teenager) where all sorts of strange things happened. I witnessed some things myself.

My personal opinion is that it's not a "ghost" (since I'm a Christian, I believe when you die, you're spirit instantly leaves this earth!), BUT I do believe in demonic activity.

I know there is a "spiritual world" that we can't see with our physical eyes, so I don't doubt in spiritual activity. I just don't think it's from "dead people."

Anyway, I wouldn't tell your daughter about it either. Just keep an eye out, maybe keep a log of the things you've noticed to see if eventually there is a logical explanation.

There are some ghost stories in my neighborhood. I find them interesting. Since you just recently moved into this home, is there some way you can contact the previous owners (possible through a real estate agent)? Maybe they will be able to shed some light on your housemates. Try talking to them as if they are friendly.

"Gee guys, I don't mind you hanging around, but please don't take things out of the fridge."

I totally agree with Spriggy. I have a friend in which that happened to. She and her husband saw some crazy stuff. She, her husband, and her pastor prayed throughout the house after much spiritual warfare, their visiters left the house.

Well I once had a house where the lights wouldn't work in one room only and it was mice eating the wires. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi Woolav,

If your lights are flickering, that's probably a sign of a "short," which could cause a fire. You should ask around and get a good recommendation for an electrician. Have the electrician examine the wiring, repair/replace, if necessary. Don't use lights that flicker.

In a later post on this thread, Phillippa mentioned a mouse ate through the wires. That is really very dangerous. I have some friends who owned a store in town. There was a terrible fire at the store that destroyed everything. After the place was inspected for the cause of the fire, it was discovered that squirrels had eaten through the wires and caused a short.

Some of the things you describe sound spooky and quaint. Others are dangerous. Don't use lights that flicker. Call an electrician.

Ha, ha, ha! That totally cracked me up!

Anyway, I have had friends that have had inexplicable experiences in their home. The way I feel is, there's so-o-o much we don't understand. We only understand 10% of our brain. What if there's a scientific explanation for ghosts or spirits - we just aren't advanced enough to comprehend it yet. I try not to make a decision concerning my beliefs if there isn't enough information to make an educated decision.
