Men and women share so much more with mental disorder than differences, I find it sad the some feel a need to discriminate because of gender. No two people have exactly the same experience with this suffering. So many of us are searching for information on ways to be able to survive with our conditions. Anything that impedes the ability for possible life saving ideas to be shared, is hard to see as positive. This exclusiveness is so common in humanity. You would think we all that struggle to overcome these similar disorders would come together instead of splitting off to our own subgroups. Just my two cents. Best wishes.

From what I know that is not her intention. There is a lot going on. I for one will never leave PBabble as I have so many friends. And I'm always open to Babblemail and welcome it! Fondly, Phillipa

I (and I imagine others as well) plan to continue using some of the Psycho-Babble boards just as long as I am welcome. Certainly this board (about our struggles and successes in finding the right treatment). But sometimes I want the company of other women *just for socializing* -- especially if I want to talk about *girlie* things like fashion and makeup or hairstyles, or delicate or potentially embarassing "female things," if you get my drift. I don't mean to stereotype, but it's kind of like men wanting to go out for a beer with the boys.
Besides, this is just a test. If not enough women seem interested, the women's group will simply die.

Also, for what it's worth, this site was NOT set up for man bashing. I'm sure there'll be the occasional "my boyfriend/husband/partner is a jerk" kind of comments that some women make when they're hurting and needing support (just as some men might say about their girlfriends/wives/partners), but that's NOT what this site is all about.
I think it might also be a refuge for women who have experienced abuse, particularly at the hands of a man or men. I think sometimes it is hard for these women to unburden themselves in front of men. Perhaps they might learn to relax and trust again, but that kind of healing takes time.

Don't mention it... and a thousand thanks my kind friend (sir? I'm guessing from the "Willy" and the feeling excluded at first).

Thanks for the invite
But...
I like it here and I spend altogether too much time on the net as it is ;-)
Also...
While it is hard at times I find it liberating to see just how much guys and gals actually have in common.
There are loads of people here who challenge the male / female stereotype both ways
And that is really good to see.
But thanks for the invite.
I hope the board works out.

And sorry Minnie but I'll probably not join the group. Nothing personal, but I never did enjoy talking 'girl talk.'
I'm much happier talking cars, sports (well, some anyway) politics - and my favorite, building things.
So WW - if it counts for anything I'll still be around.
This is the end of the thread.
