It's not a tuma!

Posted by beardedLADY on January 7, 2003, at 16:12:49

As Arnold said in one of his hokey movies. And it's not a tumor, either. And it wasn't a stroke.

So, to those who knew, my brief blindness episode in the middle of the night last week was probably a migraine.

With much relief,

P.S. I asked my neurologist where the "worry" spot was in my brain and whether it was enlarged, but he just chuckled. I guess the insomnia spot would have been equally funny.

P.P.S. By the way, for those who are down on the greediness of docs, this one has had maybe two billable visits by me, but he has been treating me via phone and e-mail for two years--without charge. And today he looked at my x-rays with me minutes after my MRI/MRA--no charge again.

I'm glad, Beardy. I've never had complete blindness from migraine, but I have had ocular migraines with large "blank" spots in my vision. It's quite disconcerting.

But I'm happy to hear it's just migraines (as if there is such a thing as *just* a migraine).

No kidding! I have those "blind spot" migraines all the time (now once a month, but usually in my sleep, thank goodness!), with no headache or vomiting. Most people who suffer migraines think that's lucky. I'd say it is, but when I'm having the vision trouble for those 30 minutes (and then light sensitivity for the rest of the day!), I don't feel so lucky.

The blindness thing is disconcerting, indeed.

Thanks for the kind words.

I get relatively minor migraines - no vomiting, or blind spots, just light sensitivity and nausea, plus the head pressure. Usually I can sleep it off.

Even with those minor symptoms, sometimes I'm convinced I'm dying...glad to hear Beardy is not!
