still crazy after all these years....

Posted by kid a on January 6, 2003, at 12:09:37

I met my old lover
On the street last night
She seemed so glad to see me
I just smiled
And we talked about some old times
And we drank ourselves some beers
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years

I'm not the kind of man
Who tends to socialize
I seem to lean on
Old familiar ways
And I aint no fool for love songs
That whisper in my ears
Still crazy afler all these years
Oh, still crazy after all these years

Four in the morning
Crapped out, yawning
Longing my life a--way
I'll never worry
Why should I?
It's all gonna fade

Now I sit by my window
And I watch the cars
I fear I'll do some damage
One fine day
But I would not be convicted
By a jury of my peers
Still crazy after all these years
Oh, still crazy
Still crazy
Still crazy after all these years

Why leave me hanging on a star
When you deem me so high
When you deem me so high
When you deem me so high.

And why leave me sailing in a sea
When you hear me so clear
When you hear me so clear
When you hear me so clear.

And why leave me hanging on a star
When you deem me so high
When you deem me so high
When you deem me so high.

............
There is a girl in New York City
Who calls herself the human trampoline
And sometimes when I'm falling, flying
Or tumbling in turmoil I say
Oh, so this is what she means
She means we're bouncing into Graceland
And I see losing love
Is like a window in your heart
Everybody sees you're blown apart
Everybody feels the wind blow

In Graceland, in Graceland
I'm going to Graceland
For reasons I cannot explain
There's some part of me wants to see
Graceland
And I may be obliged to defend
Every love, every ending
Or maybe there's no obligations now
Maybe I've a reason to believe
We all will be received
In Graceland

Graceland

STOP ME IF YOU THINK YOU'VE HEARD THIS ONE BEFORE (The Smiths)

Stop me, stop me
stop me if you think that you've
heard this one before
stop me, stop me
stop me if you think that you've
heard this one before
nothing's changed
I still love you, oh I still love you
...only slightly less than I used to
I was delayed, I was way-laid
an emergency stop
I smeltthe last ten seconds of life
I carshed down on the crossbar
and the pain was enough to make
a shy, bald buddhist reflect
and plan a mass-murder
who said I'd lied because I never
who said I'd lied because I never
I was detained, I was restrained
he broke my knees
(and then he really laid into me)
Friday night in Out-patients
who said I'd lied - because I never
who said I'd lied - because I never
Oh, so I drank one
or was it four
and when I fell on the floor...
...I drank more
stop me, stop me
stop me if you thinkthat you've
heard this one before
nothing's changed
I still love you
I still love you
but only slightly
less than I used to

Well ya-huh! your advice/information, however will not stop me. I could do it again. and again.
"Stop me if you think you've heard this one before"...it was just so perfectly and painfully ironic!

Let's see your Clash, your English Beat, your Bowie, your Robyn Hitchcock. i challenge you. It's not a duel though, because I have scarcely few vinyls left. Unfortunately I went through a "Depeche Mode" stage and I have like 6 of them...sigh...Have any 45's?

>That would be "B" for "brat"...so Kid A, about "Kid A"...why "Kid A"? I thought I read a while back why you chose the name but I can't remember. I had a hard time with that album. I kept trying and trying but after a while, just stopped listening because it was too much trouble.

Maybe that applies to how I'll deal with you too! :D

so you're saying im trouble and you'll eventually ignore me? i thought i was gaining ground... :(

i think Kill City is actually a Stooges album, but thats a technicality...

you are talking to a dj/record collector, make the largest gap you can between your thumb and your pointer finger, thats about how many bowie albums I have....... challenge accepted!

also, I got Kid A, from the adventures of Kid A in alphabetland, a card set about jacques lacan, but in all fairness that was after i bout the album...

>I suppose that's always a possibility...I do it with my husband! Not because he's trouble per se...

i think Kill City is actually a Stooges album,

>Did I mention Kill City? What's Kill City? I assume you don't mean Larry Mo and Curly. I'm trying so hard to think outside the box.

make the largest gap you can
> I have tiny fingers.
Have you seen Bowie in concert? What do you think about his latest stuff? haven't heard it yet.

but in all fairness
>That always preceeds some sort of admission. And you think you can just go around quoting Jacques-whatever...Ha!

It says Iggy Pop and James Williamson on the cover and was a Bomp records release--I believe it was long after the Stooges had disbanded.

both stooges members, I read they kind of threw the lp together just to make some desperately needed cash... as i've read it mostly contains old stooges outtakes and some newer tracks cobbled together... i've got an original release date of 1975, which would have been i think right after the stooges broke up... but others (perhaps the rerelease) say 1977...

its between 1977's "i'm sick of you", which is billed as "iggy and the stooges"... and "the Idiot", probably what I'd really call the first Iggy album...

but I concede to the album's stitle... a french discography I found still lists it as a Stooges lp, where i got off track...
