12 Step Programme

Posted by ELA on March 16, 2002, at 12:59:06

Hi Guys,

I've been working through the steps with my sponsor but I've come to a bit of a standstill at Step 8. Also rather scared at the thought of Step 9. It's the forgiveness thing that's getting me.

I'm willing to admit all the people I've hurt but when it comes to forgiving the people who've hurt me, I'm not so sure. In fact, I can't possibly see that I will ever want to forgive some of them!

People at the meetings keep saying that this will come in time but I can't see it. I guess this is ok for now but I think I still want all the answers now! Any of you had this with Steps 8 & 9? Would appreciate some insight and guidance? Thanks.

Emma.

. ..i do know that "forgiveness" can be defined pretty loosely, in 12-step. for me it arrived looking more like "detachment." luckily, i read that's a form of forgiveness.

you must be english; programme. elegant.

Hi Emma,

Before this 12-step programme transforms you into Mother Theresa of Calcutta and makes you forgive the greedy pharmaceutical company that got you into this mess, you might like to look at

http://www.leighday.co.uk/current.html#court

and talk either directly to Leigh Day or to your favourite local solicitor. Most solicitors don't charge for the first interview, and you'll probably qualify for Legal Aid because of your low income.

Too often, we lose sight of life's simple pleasures.
Remember, when someone annoys you it takes 42 muscles in your face to frown BUT, it only takes 4 muscles to extend your arm and bitch-slap the motherfucker upside the head...

:) Jonathan.
