are you slllowww?

Posted by sar on March 16, 2002, at 13:35:40

i've been kind of slow since my depression began approx 12 yrs ago. not slow in the sense of stupid--but i just walk slowly, eat slowly, shower slowly, speak slowly, do almost everything slowly! (except drive, so i speed, 'cos it doesn't take too much bodily effort to push the gas pedal harder.)

my manager at the coffee shop has lectured me and lectured me on not remembering simple instructives (i contribute that to the celexa and klonopin) but also that i am slow. "speed up!" she chirps, then roars. i am measuring out coffee beans and then my mind travels up to Sar Land and i'm measuring the beans so slowly and methodically as if everything hinders on perfection, or i'm just lost in a parallel universe in which my hand is scooping the beans but i'm lying in a hospital bed or being held on the floor getting kicked or in my boyfriend's bed. anywhere.

slow.

Sweetest:

Is that what you do now, work in a coffee shop? How are you?

I, too, am slwer because of this illness, unless I'm really revved up from mania, which has not happened lately.

I think taking life more slowly is better - you notice things others would not.

Banish those negative thoughts, though, if you can, such as the abuse. We all want you to be happy, dear sar.

What you are describing has nothing to do with depression. I hate to tell you, but you've just skipped middle age and jumped right into the geriatric lane.

Maybe it's just hanging around too many middle aged women here on PSB. (:

Sid

Hairdressers are a great source of therapy. You talk, rant, share fantasies, and you end up hopefully coming out looking great.

Yeah, I know...

In my case, my hairdresser knows my entire family, so I keep my mouth shut about anything that I wouldn't tell them directly! :-)
