Timothy Hutton - living.
Jim Hutton (his father) - dead.

Oooh! I loved/love them both. I can't defend my reasons, except there's something sweet, boyish, & yet sexy to them both. I was crushed when Jim Hutton died. He wasn't that well known but stared in the fantastic Ellery Queen TV series. Timothy, his son, looks so much like him & has his same innocent charm but not quite as naive. I'm a sucker for anything he stars in.

I absolutely hate mushy, romance stories but I watched "Made In Heaven" (1987 movie) on TV one night with Timothy Hutton in it & sat crying. My (at that time, 19 year old) cynical son watched it with me & said it was so heartfelt - it did something to us both. What a sop I sound like! There - my silly sentimental side is hanging out exposed to all. I still get all soppy thinking about that show - me, the tough, practical, no-romance Judy.

I can't believe I found someone else who had a crush on Jim Hutton. I admit I can take or leave Timothy Hutton, but his father.... Wow!

I used to watch Ellery Queen with religious fanatacism. I had already been a fan of the books and I must admit that Jim Hutton didn't quite match my mental picture of Ellery but those boyish good looks more than made up for the discrepancy.

Living would have to be Scott Bakula, but only as Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap. I am a huge sucker for integrity and Sam Beckett was as full of integrity as you can get. Integrity is just sooo sexy. (Great body was just an added bonus.)

(Couldn't resist responding to another lover of Jim Hutton. Most people just say, who?)

Scott in Quantum Leap was sooo good too. Unfortunately, it's ruined for me now with him as Captain Archer in Enterprise. That's okay, Timothy still does it for me. He's in the Nero Wolfe series on A&E on TV.

Dinah, you HAVE to go out & rent "Made In Heaven". Even if you dislike romance stories like me, you will really enjoy this one. There's something so touching & special about it. I honestly do get soppy just thinking about it. Probably deep down, I'm a romantic but know it'll never happen to me. I do wish I could've found a true heart/soul-mate.

Now here is a solution to whatever is ailing me.

http://www.gilmarc.com/uordj/index-main.html

I like strong character, dark hair, and shoulders. Not hulk shoulders, but just natural manly ones.

Dead, I can't say I've ever had much interest in corpses. So I don't have one in this category.

I dont know what the actor is really like (apart from v. handsome!), but the character of Dr Carter is just *gorgeous* - funny, kind, brave etc etc...

Cant think of a dead one! So 2nd is Robert Carlyle (as in Trainspotting, Full Monty) cos I just think he's v sexy!

ahh, but aren't they all like that generally? I'm in love with how I picture him to be - sweet & bad, not a good sort for a good relationship. Jim Hutton (now dead), the one Dinah & I like lots, was supposed to be a very nice person in real life too. I "love" his son, Timothy Hutton just as much.

My oldest & youngest sons are hooked on all things Japanese. Great taste, Chris! - the songs accompanying the FF games & others are beautiful when sung in Japanese by the original artists. I turned my sons onto Oriental culture when they were young, but it's become highly popular now & expanded beyond anything I'd imagined.

I can't honestly say that I have any secret celebrity crushes, but I do have some actors, and a few directors whose work I absolutely adore and admire.

Living Male: Brad Pitt (Snatch & Fight Club)
Living Female: Helena Bonham Carter (Fight Club, Novocaine)

Dead Male: Orson Welles (The Third Man, Citizen Kane)
Dead Female: Ingrid Bergman (Notorious, Casablanca, Anastasia, ect...)

Brad Pitt: He has been a main character (antagonist and protagonist) in three of my top ten favorite movies. First, there is "Snatch", in which Brad Pitt easily and seductively flaunts his ability to become a character with as many layers as an unpeeled onion. Second, as Edward Norton's duel personality in "Fight Club", another brilliant movie demanding a very intense, violent, yet charismatic persona. Fight Club is a very good vehicle for Pitt, but not as hilariously brilliant as "Snatch". Third, his character in Gilliam's "Twelve Monkeys," which doesn't demand the same kind of depth that the previous two movies did, but is still a stellar film from a stellar director.

Helena Bonham Carter: She has so many faces, the outrageous, the obscene, the pristine, the manipulator, the sublime femme fatale, the steely-eyed, stony-hearted, austere commanding matriarch, and even the bizarre maundering vulnerable clueless. And she has so much time left to surprise us!

Orson Welles: Besides his superb acting abilities in dozens of movies, and a voice that both entrances and disturbs; his directorial skills and filming techniques were and are mind-blowing. He seemed to gravitate towards foreign films, foreign adaptations, and mystery/thrillers that were always undercut by his seamless acting and/or his absolutely astounding film-making! Examples of my Orson Welles favorites follow: "The Third Man", "Citizen Kane", "Genocide", "Touch of Evil", "Catch-22", "The Long, Hot Summer".

Ingrid Bergman: She was such a gifted actress. She could portray timid, confused vulnerable women, as well as the blossoming beauty who has nerves of steel. She took a beating by Hollywood, but eventually returned and displayed her strength, endurance, giftedness, otherworldly dignity and graciousness, and her ageless beauty. She was amazing in: "A Woman Called Golda", "Spellbound", "Notorious", "Gaslight", "Anastasia", and the "Inn of the Sixth Happiness" just to name a few.

What about favorite Directors: Peter Greenaway, Coen Bros., Tom Tykwer, Terry Gilliam, David Fincher, Darren Aronofsky.

Special Life-Time Achievement Awards to: Robert De Niro and Helen Mirren ("Some Mother's Son").

Side-note: Is Robert Carlyle the same actor who was "Da" in "Angela's Ashes" and the Scottish Head of Police (only officer of the law) in that teeny-tiny town located in Scottland in the BBC TV series "Hamish Macbeth"?

Top Ten Movies:
1) Magnolia (Julianne More,Philip Hoffman,Jason Robards,William Macy,Melore Walters,Tom Cruise)

2) Snatch (Benicio Del Toro,Brad Pitt,Dennis Farina,Mike Reid,Jason Statham,Vinnie Jones, and more)

3) Fight Club (Edward Norton,Brad Pitt,Helena Bonham Carter,Jared Leto)

4) Brazil (Michael Palin,Kim Greist,Jonathan Pryce,Robert De Niro,Bob Hoskins)

5) 12 Monkeys (Brad Pitt,Madeleine Stowe,Bruce Willis)

6) Requiem for a Dream (Ellen Burstyne,Jared Leto,Jennifer Connelly)

7) The Way of The Gun (Benicio Del Toro,James Caan,Taye Diggs,Juliette Lewis,Ryan Phillipp,)

8) Leon (in the USA aka: "The Professional") (with Jean Reno,Gary Oldman,Natalie Portman)

9) Kiss of the Dragon (Jet Li, B. Fonda)

10) Left Luggage (Isabella Rossillini)

Truly, trying to choose my top ten is quite difficult. I like to break everything into categories by genre, which enables me to include so many more movies and actors ;o)
