My T is having a heart cath

Posted by JoniS on September 9, 2008, at 23:33:34

- and I am so worried about him. He has been having chest pains and so tomorrow is the heart cath, but they've already told him he has something like pulmonary hypertension. He's only 51. I love him. I hate this for him. I'm worried.

Heart cathertization should go fine pulmonary hypertension is not a good thing and yes he's very young. Hopefully he won't have pulmonary hypertension. Phillipa let us know how he makes out okay?

How scary. :( I hate it when therapists reveal their mortality. They're supposed to be like parents.

It really is sad that these are people we really care about, yet can't really reach out to when they are having difficulties.

My experience with heart surgeries these days is that people are up and about soon. I hope he's one of those people.

Definitely scary. I think that's more or less my therapist's age, and I can't help but notice that he's gained a fair amount of weight lately.

Thanks Phillipa & Dinah. He came through today "OK" He said (in email) his heart was "OK" but he does have to see a pulmonologist and he was told he had pulmonary hypertension. I read about it, and it is deadly. I hope he doesn't have that worst one. This is killing me.

Hi Joni,

All this stuff is scary when we know this about our T's. But one thing I do know is that heart problems have some of the best technology to help with meds and surgeries. It is so scary though, my T has heart problems, well actually both of mine did, and my daughter at age 7, was found to have a heart defect, all came through with surgeries and are all fine now.

I can only imagine... I'd be a wreck.

I wish there was something we could do for our therapists in those situations. Doing makes things a bit easier.

Joni so sorry I didn't want to post a link or anything about the pulmonary hypertension. Will he be on oxygen all the time? Love Phillipa

Joni,

This must be so hard for you and your T. Do you happen to know if it is primary or secondary pulmonary hypertension? Will keep fingers crossed, keep us posted.

Best, Lucie
