Eeeek..going to see p-doc I've never seen before..

Posted by Deneb on September 16, 2005, at 21:11:47

Tell me what to say people. My appointment is on Tues, eeek!

What do I say? I don't think there is anything wrong enough with me that I actually need to see a p-doc! Yikes. The p-doc I saw for a long time was different, I know her, she's cool, but this new guy...I don't know a thing about him!

I think I made a terrible mistake!

I shouldn't be seeing anyone right now. He will judge me! What are some really normal things to talk about people? I don't want him to think I'm crazy or anything! Eeek, what will he think of my blue hair? OMGosh, I *hate* eye contact, but I must force myself to maintain it or else he'll think it is a strange behaviour or something!

My former p-doc didn't mind my weirdness, I don't know anything about this guy!

Eeek...I just know I'm going to come off as socially anxious or too eager or something. I tend to go overboard sometimes when trying hard to seem not socially anxious, especially for job interviews and the like. I end up acting like as *ss!

LOL, if you're that freaked out about it, and you think he'll judge you, and you think he'll think you're weird and crazy, then maybe you have some anxiety issues? Look at it this way Deneb, he sees people ALL day long, every single day, M-F, and maybe Sat. too. You are just one more person to him. Someone who is a little uncomfortable with life. So, ask yourself why you're going? A p-doc is for meds, if you need meds, they're not for us, they're for you, so you need to think about what it is that you want him to help you with, and most likely that's what he'll do. I know how you feel, i like my p-doc, i trust him, he's great, and i still have anxiety. he probably thinks i'm a little weird, but so is everyone else in his office, and btw, so is he! ; )

I hope by the time you get there you know more what you want him to help you with, and that you know what you want to say to him, and btw, I bet he's seen his fair share of blue hair, and pierced tongues, and tattooed bodies, and every other imaginable thing you can think of! You won't shock him, not one little bit, not even the lack of eye contact. ; )

Is this for meds or therapy or both? In my experience, when you see a pdoc for meds, they often have lots of questions to ask you, so you can just answer them honestly.

You can do it. And you can post all about it afterwards!

Best,

I don't think it is for meds. I think maybe it is just to touch base with someone. I wonder if he has access to my files? He's the replacement for my p-doc who is still on maternity leave it turns out.

If he is at the same clinic and everything, he should have access to your file. Are you concerned about that?
