Habits!!!

Posted by coral on April 24, 2003, at 12:08:10

For the past month, I've made a concerted effort to get rid of spam. (Could do a whole post on some strange and idiotic methods of requesting that "they" not send me anymore when I never requested it in the first place....)

My spam attack is working. HOWEVER, I'm receiving so few e-mails that I'm continually checking to see if my e-mail program is working. I also am feeling "forgotten"!!! SPAM e-mails have been reduced from over 200 per day to a mere trickle and I feel like "Left out". Now, that's probably the dumbest sensation I've ever experienced.

It's just weird!

Chuckle. I feel the same way about junk mail. On those few occasions we don't get a bundleful, I feel neglected. Poor trees. I really should do something about it.

But the telephone sales calls are a different story. Grumble, mumble, curse.

callwave internet answering machine hangs up on telemarketers. i find it invigorating and refreshing and thrilling and positively worth the 13.00 a month that i pay for the answering machine and filter! download it. it works. the internet machine answers the call, you can take it or not, or it plays the message over your speakers.............cool as sliced bread. pat

Well, Coral, if it will help, we could email you silly offers to enlarge body parts you do not posess, or to tell you that you have already been approved for a mortgage that we cannot supply, or......

Dear Noa,

No no no....but thank you anyway! It was a momentary aberration. I like the significant decline in spam now..... just stuck w/those who have no way to remove (but I'll get them, too!)

Besides, I manage to do enough body enlargement all by myself (somehow.... that didn't come out right .....). Yeah, and about dem mortgage folks.... LOL

We've started cleaning the HOUSE ---egads. My office has only been done for a few weeks and now the rest should be cleaned? Why? It'll just get dirty again . . .

How are your mom and dad doing? And, my dear, how are you doing????

Hugs,

Coral

I almost forgot!

I looked up the government website because I had some vague memory that a national do not call registry was being instituted. And it is, but not until July. I found information on that, and other telemarketing rules too. I now know the magic words to say to the telephone company that called us three times in two days.

Well, as irritating as spam is, and seemingly impossible to get rid of, I congratulate you on your success! But I understand how you feel; most days I get tons of junk mail that I throw out as I walk inside, and am left with nothing except a bill or two. On the occasional day that I get nothing I feel cheated.

It's like there's some kind of connection to the world, even if it's sales oriented, when you get any kind of mail.

I hope your mail situation evens out to your satisfaction :)

Take care
