Spiritual or religious top 10

Posted by Cass on September 16, 2004, at 21:01:30

The social board usually does a top 10 list every week of things we're grateful for. I thought it might be fun to do a spiritual or religious top 10 things that enhance our spiritual or religious experience.

1. Deep breathing
2. Eating plant based foods.
3. Looking at both sides of an issue.
4. The writings of Ralph Waldo Emerson.
5. Gardening
6. The company and support of like-minded people.
7. Gratitude lists.
8. Helping others.
9. Courage.
10. Not taking things personally.

Nicolas,

That reminds me that I always feel very uplifted by 60s folk music. I love the gentle lyrics and melodies.

Even though I don't fast for my religious reasons specifically, I do fast from time to time for the health benefits. I find that on the third day (I don't fast longer than three days), I feel a spiritual centeredness which I really like. From my experience, giving my digestive system a break can be very healing on more than one level.

That's a good answer, 64bowtie, and that's one of the hardest things for me to do. In order to "just be", I feel one has to be in the present moment. A person has to quiet their mind. I find I can only be in the present moment briefly, then it slips away as my mind becomes distracted. I seek to be in the present moment more because I know that's where joy is.
