Long Time No Post

Posted by Dena on June 9, 2003, at 18:52:36

Greetings to Miller, Dinah, Rayww, Lou Pilder, Jonathan, etc...

It's been a while since I posted. I think I haven't lurked here since Easter. Time flies. How is everyone? I've seen Miller's & Dinah's recent postings - has anyone heard from Rayww?

I hope you all are well - I've kept you lifted up in prayer, although I've been "away". I hope that in the midst of the trials & struggles of this life you've also been showered with blessings!

I'd love to hear how anyone else is doing lately with hearing from God. Voices or otherwise! I believe that He's always speaking - but sometimes we're not listening. Anyone heard anything lately?

Shalom, Dena

My husband and son and I have an ongoing conversation that we have. It's along the lines of what's the best and worst of your day. The question is what did God ask you to do today, and did you agree to do it?

Was there anyone in school who looked alone and sad? Did you listen for the still small voice within? Did God prompt you to go talk to that person, and did you? At my son's age, he still needs some help in understanding the ways that God may have called to him.

Then my husband and I share stories where we had the chance to be God's hands and voice here on earth. And we share whether we chose to do what our still small voice prompted. And not infrequently the answer was no, we had the chance to do God's will and chose not to. I don't believe in making doing God's will sound easy. :)

Dinah -

Nice to hear from you! I love your approach. I think it's wonderful how you're teaching your son how to make God a real part of everyday life. It's so easy to get caught up in the hectic pace of daily living & forget about God entirely. I admire the way you're making Him a focus.

I heard somewhere that we're not human beings having a spiritual experience; we're really spiritual beings having a human experience.

I think I'd like to try to incorporate your family ritual into our dinnertime conversation.

I agree that doing God's will isn't usually easy. It almost always involves denying my own preferences & thinking of others - not something that comes naturally to me, I'm sad to say. It's amazing to me that a woman who homeschools 7 children can still manage to be selfish! God have mercy...

Thanks for sharing your family's focus on hearing God.

Shalom, Dena
