Piracetam: Difference between low and usual dose

Posted by Pluto on June 12, 2007, at 1:30:34

I took my first Piracetam 800mg in the evening and slept well, feeling little bit of groggy and foggy in the morning. Took the next dose only to get fogged again. It is a paradoxical effect. In fact piracetam is supposed to help with mental fog!

I tried a small yesterday, (400mg) and still have the hang-over like effects.

Does this mean piracetam is not for me? Or dose is too low? I have heard the initial starting dose is 2.4g three times daily.
Should I try high doses?

Piracetam was not for me.

It made me feel quite unpleasant in doses that worked.

What was your dosage Sigismund? And in which way it made you unpleasant?

1600mg was what I first took, and I was taking Hydergine at the same time. It was terrible, because the one potentiates the other.

At other times I have taken lower doses but I have come to the conclusion that the effect is a strain.
I have aniracetam here and don't use it any more.
Hydergine and deprenyl at least feel nice.

I can't remember if you felt the effect at all and shall have to look.

So you felt foggy.

Well, I think it made me feel uneasy, and if I got the dose wrong then I felt quite bad.

Many folks don't get any benefit from the -racetams without also supplementing with a choline source. I myself prefer lecithin for a choline source because it's dirt cheap, but there are more expensive and more bio-available sources of choline. Piracetam will generally make you feel foggy and possibly even sedated if you aren't getting enough choline through diet or supplements.
