there are no flights to new zealand.

except for citizens. because they can't prevent citizens 'coming home'.

they periodically... will... open flights to australia so people can get out of new zealand. apply for refugee status from australia, i suppose.

and people who bribe their way in.

i'm trying to understand how bribes work, in new zealand.

see... we aren't processing visas. we haven't been processing visas for some time.

before covid... people started speaking out that they seemed to have stopped processing visas.

students were cut off part way through degrees. not allowed back into the country to complete their qualifications.

people who were working here had their visas lapse or expire because they weren't processed in time for renewal. some people overstayed (they are saying) not because renewal was declined... but because there were processing delays on something that was supposed to be.... straightforward. notional. automatic.

apparently now they are only looking at approving people with a net wealth over whatver. or with a job in nz that pays over a certain amount.

the idea on those jobs in nz that pays over a certain amount... seems to be that you bring with you your wife or husband and your kids... and that is the one salary you will get out of new zealand. people come thinking that their partner will get work once they arrive... but that doesn't happen, anymore. there's a 'divide and conquer' sort of a... psychological... whereby they set family units against each other... choosing one to earn the living wage and forcing others to dependence. this idea of 'us vs them' 'managers vs the managed' 'owners vs slaves'.

i was reading this.... blurb about this australian fraudster... the way they describe the situation... i just... don't have that conception of life. of what life is about. of the way the world is. the world is this awful way because people choose to adopt a b*llsh*t ideology.

the story goes that she dressed above her job...
(assumption: what you wear conveys your social class) and she always thought she was better than what she was (some people are better than others). but she only did teh lowest level math and she wasn't as good as other people... she passed herself off as someone capable of managing whatever funds but she was effectively simply stealing the money...

it's about the clothes. it's about the comportment. it's about hanging in the 'right circles' of wealth and opulance. conspicuous consumption. glamor.

it's not about... growth.

nothing grows here because people are focused on...

i don't belong here.

it's all about the appearances.

we don't have doctors because we have people who want to have the titles and the money and the people going 'wow you are a hero'.

we don't have lawyers...

apparently lawyers are all stuck working 10+ hour days for firms... being abused by partners... partners are afraid they aren't bringing enough money in for the firm... teams are pitted against each other...

but there's so much work to do, so much work to do, so much work to do...

prosecuting the government for corruption.

but they don't...

because???

the judges won't award the losing party to pay the fees for the representation?

corruption in teh law firms??

i guess...

there's f*ck*ng nothing here...

how f*ck*ng hard is it...

to find people who have been wronged?

by the government?

the government has deep pockets...

how f*ck*ng hard is it to find people who have been wronged by the government? and take the f*ck*ng government to court over the fact that they have breached international obligations to the people?

how f*ck*ng hard?

answer:

those kids don't get accepted into law school.

those kids don't graduate from law school.

those kids don't get hired by firms (don't get hired at all).

those kids...

well....

do you want to have your degree taken away? do you want to never have a job ever in new zealand? do you want to have 'use of force' written on your health file notes so if you ever present to teh ER they will claim your injuries are self inflicted and either you take a heavy dose of antipsychotic or they will remove your pants and jab a needle in your *rs*...

welcome to new zealand.

f*ck*ng stupid land

the world health organisation recommended (on health grounds) that living spaces be heated to 20 or 21 degrees (i think that varied a bit) and that bedrooms be heated to 18 degrees. these were minimum recommendations on temperature.

the new zealand government recently altered laws. previously a source of heating was not something that landlords needed to provide to their tenants. i think they were required to provide electrical outlets. but they weren't required to supply a source of heat, at all. they also weren't required to have the property insulated. etc etc etc...

so they introduced laws whereby landlords needed to provide a heater such that...

and i'm not sure what the law says, actually.

there are... guidelines? regulations? on the size of the heatpump that is recommended to heat various sizes of living space. but the idea was to provide a source of heat that will heat the living room to 18 degrees.

that was the 'minimum standard'.

but now there is an outcry because...

apparently the recommendation on the size of the heatpump to be installed on the space makes it possible for the space to be heated to more than 18 degrees!!

oh noes the heater is too big!

so tantrums.

because the aim is only to meet the most minimal of standards. always. always forced to just scrape by with the bare minimum always and only.

ffs.

f*ck*ng psychopaths.

how low can we go?

lower!

lower!!

we must always aim lower than low!!!

they are right that the national government only signed up to the indigenous human rights thing because it thought the whole thing was a joke.

the new zealand people do not have rights. australians don't really, either, so much, insofar as i can tell. they sh*t all over the notion of rights repeatedly and reliably as well. when i was teaching politics and rights to lawyers over there they told me that they were learning that the whole notion of human rights was a joke and the courts never upheld anything to do with them in any kind of meaningful way.

so the national government signs up to the indigenous people's rights thing because it seems like it will give them brownie points for caring or something and they won't be required to do anything.

but they signed up for maaori having rights.

which was what we were told about the treaty in teh first place. that we were the world leaders on indigenous rights because we treated maaori as people and our encounter involved a treaty or an agreement with them. we treated them as people and didn't try and enslave them or treat them as animals incapable of signing a treaty in a language that many didn't undrestand...

sure...

so anyway...

now it's all awkward because the white endentured servants or slaves or whahave you... and the chinese.... and the islanders... all the people.... are sick and tired of the government signing away the rights of the people.

giving all the health data to the care and protection of CEs who have fled England... and so on...
