I apologize if I said anything wrong Dr Bob.

I guess our perceptions may be a little different, because I sensed a heavy sense of uncivilness directed toward me. I do not see that I returned much uncivilness at all, making purposeful efforts to keep it within civil guidelines while still making a defense against my uncivil attacker.

You didn't say anything wrong in any wrong way. If that was directed towards you, something is VERY wrong here.

I think it should have been manic666 that the polite police should have targeted if anyone at all. Even his comments were not that bad. It's as if we cannot communicate feeling frustrated over something. If done in the right way, there should be no problem with it.

I agree, could you (or someone else) help bleauberry communicate how he's feeling in the "right" way?

More information about posting policies and tips on alternative ways to express yourself, including a link to a nice post by Dinah on I-statements, are in the FAQ:

Please don't post anything that could lead others to feel accused.

But please don't take this personally, either, this doesn't mean I don't like you or think you're a bad person, and I'm sorry if this hurts you.

I do hope that you choose to remain a member of this community and that this community helps you, if needed, to avoid future blocks.

manic666, I'm also sorry if you felt hurt.

Thanks,

Bob

I was sorry to see this. I suppose I hadn't read your previous post with this in mind.

You responded but I'm not sure it's clear to those who don't read admin that your response was in lieu of a block, and giving the poster time to apologize, rephrase, or somehow avoid the block.

Also, what he said doesn't seem to me, at least, all that different from what has been said lataly with no administrative response at all. I suppose the point is that *if* you get a PBC, and *if* you get one of these admin responses suggesting that others help you, then you apologize or be blocked.

But perhaps you could make that more clear in your notification? I've noticed you appear to be trying to back off the subject line administrative actions, but I think it's only fair to a poster to be very clear what you wish, and what the consequences will be.

I agree. I found this whole sequence confusing.

Please don't let fairness and clarity take a back seat to......well, to whatever, Dr. Bob.

This whole thing makes me very sad. I don't understand. I didn't think any of it was so bad. Not nearly as bad as other posts I've seen. And it seemed to me it was pretty mutual.
Did Bleauberry get blocked even after such a nice apology? That seems really unfair.
I have been looking for bleauberry's posts and didn't know what happened. He/she is a wonderful
addition to our blog.
It makes me afraid to say anything here.
Bleauberry, I hope you are back soon!!

I couldn't agree more..What did Bleauberry say that was that bad??? I just don't see it. I thought Bleauberry was attacked initially and that this attack was much much worse than anything he/she said. I just don't think this was at all necessary. Especially since you are risking losing such a valuable member of this forum. Very Unfortunate.

I agree with Dinah, that it's not at all clear-- even to those who have been reading admin-- that this is a new formula to replace the PBC or PBS. It was also never that clear to me that a PBC or PBS required an apology, or a rewording, although it may be in the FAQ that if you don't do that, you may (will?) be blocked.

I fear that the blocking rules (or guidelines?) have been blurred over the last few months, since many of what would have been quite uncivil posts have been allowed. I'm not quite sure if there are (unspoken) different expectations on the admin page, where people can be more freewheeling-- or if there are shifting standards-- of if the dearth of deputies has come to mean that enforcement is even more spotty and irregular.

But you might want to consider reformulating the blocking policy directly--or at least restating it directly-- and posting the new (or simply recomfirmed) guidelines in Bold Red Print at the top of the boards for a while.

By now, I suspect everyone is thoroughly baffled. I've always been extremely careful here, but have personally been a bit more forthright lately-- after having myself been addressed in what seemed to me a very hurtful way with no consequences for the poster. So I had inferred that things were less strict myself.

This seems to be a real sticking point for everyone and while restatement won't solve the problems, it might at least help people be more aware of where we are now.

I really don't see why he was blocked. People have been uncivil to him in the past and nothing was said. I think the rules re. blocking should be posted as they don't make any sense to me now.

Cure is worse than the disease. Typical. Did Blueberry speak back? That normally does it.

>I agree, could you (or someone else) help bleauberry communicate how he's feeling in the "right" way?

I guess no one could manage that one.

If you initiate, your bad. If you retaliate, you're blocked???

Well, BB didn't really retaliate. He defended himself in a certain way, just like Twinleaf did. Apparently you have to be very careful when defending yourself here.

I agree that he didn't really retaliate. I don't think he said anything wrong when defending himself the way he did.

You make a good point-Do when need to be careful when defending ourselves here? Or should we just refrain from defending ourselves at all?

Yeah, better not to bother. Once you are given a PBC *any* comment from you about it will easily trigger a block.

You remember Twinleaf's? It was the same thing. It's just 'Don't answer back' isn't it?
