Sounds good.

Except that my heart is still palpitating that they kept all that information. It makes me want to wash my hands of google altogether.

From the article it seems like Google Dashboard can only control data created in Google's own services like Blogger and Calendar and Gmail. It doesn't apply to data about you on other sites that's found by Google's search engine, since Google doesn't own or control that data. It's just a one-stop place to control or delete any data stored about you in Google's own services, not search engine hits.

It's still a start though. If other sites could follow Google's example the world would be a much better place. Imagine if there was a 'private' option on PB to block your user name and posts from search engine indexers if you desired, just like opting out from twitter and FB buttons. Or to delete all your posts.
