Lou's request to Dr. Hsiung

Posted by Lou Pilder on April 13, 2005, at 11:06:35

Dr. Hsiung,
In response to your writing that you think that it is acceptable here for your guest expert in relation to the Christian perspective, using a christian bible passage where Jesus turned over the moneychanger's tables in the Temple to indicate that Jesus felt "anger", I was wondering if you could consider the following in relation to your post to me about another topic that one could,[...get me to change my mind...]
The Nazi propaganda for Hitler used that part of the Christian bible in an attempt to sway the German Christians against the Jews. The propaganda was written by Joseph Goebbles before the election of Hitler
In the following link of the Nazi propaganda, there is a separate section titled,"Why Do We Oppose the Jews?"
About the 5th sentence from the end of that section, Goebbles writes,[...Christ himself saw that love did not always work. When he found the moneychangers in the Temple, he did not say,"Children, love one another!" He took up a whip and drove them out....].
Do you think that the use of any part of the Christian bible passage, Mark 11:15, has the potential, to arrouse antisemitic feelings?

Dr. Hsiung,
I am requesting that you ask your guest expert in his use of the Christian perspective here to rephrase his post where he writes about Jesus and the moneychangers in the Temple. Perhaps asking him to "revise" like you did to rayww in some of her posts that has what IMO could have the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings.
I also am reuesting that if the Nazi propaganda link did not get you to change your mind, could you allow mw to post other links to other propaganda that has historically been used to arrouse antisemitic feelings by using that same christian bible passage in the Christian bibile book, Mark 11:15?

Lou's request to Dr. Hsiung

DR. Hsiung,
Your policy here says that if you have a fear that others could think that something written by someone here could have them think that it is for them also, that you will write in some way that it is unacceptable here in relation to the guidlines of the forum for me to post about my God's commandment to me for you have a fear that others will think it is for them also.
But in your guest expert's referrence to the christian bible verses on Christian perspective, could his use of the christian bible passage about Jesus and the moneychangers in the Temple also have the potential to have some others think that they shoud be angry at those jews also? Did your guest not say that Jesus felt anger toward those Jews? Now if Jesus is angry at some jews, could not that have the potential for others to consider also being angry at those Jews? After all, is not Jesus considered to be God in most of Christianity? Is not the doctrine of the Trinity saying that Jesus is God?
I have a fear. I have a fear that this statement in question by your guest could have the potential IMO to have others think that they could be allowed to have anger toward some jews like Jesus is said to have. Did not Auntie Mel, a poster here, also write something about this in a reply to me here as to the people that Jesus had anger toward were the Jewish leaders?
The fear that I have is that this could escalate into more statements that have your approval that IMO have the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings. And history shows how others can think that it is acceptable to do things when their leaders say that it is acceptable. The following is what happened when the leaders of Nazi Germany used propaganda to arrouse hatred toward the jews and who tried to stop them?

Sir,

Why are you always playing the trouble maker on the Administration board?

A- You have too much time in your hands?
B- This is part of your illness?
C- You fear the rising of the Third Reich?

Sir, this is an awful time consuming for Dr. Bob. These boards belong to him, so please respect his policies. Plain and simple.

Someone has to stop those insanes requests. Dr Bob here, Dr Bob there. We are no more in primary school nor in an Auschwitz's camp, isn'it?

Sir, do you know the word: CONFORMITY?

..we really need to make our best effort to be tolerant of each other here. I feel the tone of your post is likely to make Lou feel accused or put down - in violation of the civility guidelines. Or at least, if your remarks were directed at me, I would feel upset.

IMO, the above comments sound sarcastic and somewhat harsh. Maybe you could rephrase them? Perhaps there's a way for you to ask Lou about why he writes posts a certain way, etc., without being uncivil? Or if not, maybe just let it go?

I am trying to help us all restrain ourselves appropriately for this forum. Please accept my post in the spirit it is intended.

Maximus,
You wrote,[...why are you playing the trouble maker...?].
It is not my intention to [...play the trouble maker...]. But is it trouble to you that I post here? If so, could you explain why? You listed(C), [You fear the rising of the Third Riech?].
Is not the poicy of Dr. Hsiung that a forest fire can come from a spark?
You wrote,[...please respect Dr. Hsiung's policys...].
Is not the policy here by DR. Hsiung that the administrative board is for discussion of concerns like mine?
You wrote,[...those {insane} requests...]. Are you saying that a request by me to make a determination as to if a statement here by another could have the potential to arrouse antisemitic feelings is {insane}?
Lou

Sir,

I give you my apologizes, because i think i have been bitter and too far in my declaration.

However, to put it simple, i feel that your repetitive and tireless requests are too much and may be abusive for Dr. Bob and others. I feel that a certain control in their (requests) numbers and essence may be welcome for the whole community.

That's all for me on that topic.

To 10derHeart, thank you. You were right.

Have a good day!

Sir,

It takes a humble person to even write this, Maximus. Apologizing is far too rare, here, and in real life, I fear. (well, come to think of it, Babblers do better overall at "sorry" than what I witness IRL...) We all get overtaken by strong feelings at times. We're only human :-)

> However, to put it simple, i feel that your repetitive and tireless requests are too much and may be abusive for Dr. Bob and others. I feel that a certain control in their (requests) numbers and essence may be welcome for the whole community.

I know this is Lou's business, primarily, but if I may just offer one more thought. I guess no matter how we might view something, we really can't be 100% sure how others are viewing it. They could have a prespective we never even dreamed of ourselves. This has been a very hard lesson for me in life, as I tend toward being extremely opinionated, and passionate in defending those, to the point I can't possibly see how anyone could see a situation in any way but mine! Bit by bit, I am learning this isn't the best way to grow or learn more about people and the world. Anyway, I'm saying...I guess one would have to let Dr. Bob decide whether he has any kind of problem with Lou's posts, and act accordingly. As as for others viewing them, well they always have the option of either not reading the admin board, or skipping over anyone's posts that seem to repeatedly bother them.

> To 10derHeart, thank you. You were right.

You're welcome, and again, I am most impressed by your calm response. *Thank you* for being so reasonable.

> Have a good day!

You, too, Maximus, and I hope to see you posting. Take care.

Please don’t post anything that could lead others to feel accused or put down. You’ve been asked to be civil before, so now I’m going to block you from posting for a week.

If you or others have questions about this or about posting policies in general, or are interested in alternative ways of expressing yourself, please see the FAQ:

http://www.dr-bob.org/babble/faq.html#civil

Follow-ups regarding these issues, as well as replies to above posts, should of course themselves be civil.

Thanks,

Bob
